About ACM Interactions

ACM Interactions magazine is a mirror on the human-computer interaction and interaction design communities and beyond. It is a multiplicity of conversations, collaborations, relationships, and new discoveries focusing on how and why we interact with the designed world of technologies. Interactions has a special voice that lies between practice and research with an emphasis on making engaging human-computer interaction research accessible to practitioners and on making practitioners' voices heard by researchers.

The magazine is published bi-monthly by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the largest educational and scientific computing society in the world. Interactions is the flagship magazine for the ACM's Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (SIGCHI), with a global circulation that includes all SIGCHI members.

ACM Interactions is a publication of great influence in the fields that envelop the study of people and computers. To have your work or research published here can make a difference.

ACM Interactions' Editorial Team

Daniela Rosner, Mikael Wiberg, and Alex Taylor make up Interactions magazine’s editorial team. Their research interests and individual practices intersect with design and technology in multiple ways, amounting to a variety of perspectives on thinking and writing about, and making and acting with and through technology. Collectively, in working together and guiding Interactions, they hope to build the ground for new and different relationships with technology and more just futures. They aim to help make a magazine centered on equity, access, and collective accountability for all involved and affected by design and technology worlds.

At Interactions, we use honoraria to support and encourage submissions from people historically under-represented within the HCI and design fields. We give particular priority to those without reliable or long-term institutional support.

Editors-in-Chief

Daniela Rosner
Daniela is an associate professor in human-centered design and engineering (HCDE) at the University of Washington and co-director of the Tactile and Tactical Design (TAT) Lab. She is the author of Critical Fabulations: Reworking the Methods and Margins of Design (MIT Press).
Mikael Wiberg
Mikael is a full professor in informatics at Umea University, Sweden. Mikael’s main work is within the areas of design, interactivity, and materiality. He is driven by a curiosity of what digital technology can be, what it offers today, and how people imagine and create new forms of interactions through design and use. His most recently published book is The Materiality of Interaction: Notes on the Materials of Interaction Design (MIT Press, 2018).
Alex Taylor
Alex is committed to asking hard questions of technology’s proliferation in contemporary life, and crucially to exploring the sociotechnical conditions for more equitable and just ways of living together. He thrives on nourishing the relations and making the space with others to do this collective work. Alex co-directs the Centre for Human-Computer Interaction Design, a warm and lively ragbag of thinkers and doers at City, University of London.
